Our clients required MPAD to complete a scheme plan and landscape design for the site taking into account the proposed medium density housing typologies. MPAD provided a complete package of services, including master planning, subdivision and land-use consenting, landscape design, and the preparation of a design guide to ensure a high-quality residential amenity was achieved.
While the proximity to the Tauranga Harbour imposed flooding and stormwater management constraints, it also offered the opportunity to design an interesting subdivision and complete an esplanade reserve walking loop track. This in combination with proposed landscaping, allowed the multiple residential typologies within the development to be integrated into the receiving environment and contribute positively to ecological and landscape values adjacent to the harbour. MPAD largely focused on New Zealand natives to maintain and enhance the local ecosystem, complimented by some non-native specimen trees within the subdivision to create visual variety and a sense of place. The landscape design contributes to an attractive development in this location.
